Empty1

Have you ever been on a long drive interstate that took a few days? One of the things I hate to do is stop for petrol. Do you know why? It’s because all of those semi-trailers, caravans, and slow pokes that I have meticulously passed are all going to pass me while I am filling up! Now, that’s annoying. I wish someone would invent a way to fill up without having to stop.

But the truth is that unless you stop and refuel you’re not going to make it. You are going to stall and be stuck by the side of the road. That’s even more annoying!

I find life is a bit like that. There is so much to do, so many people to see and so many places to go. We all get very busy and if we’re not careful we can begin burn out.

We all need to learn what it is to STOP … and to refuel … physically, emotionally, and even spiritually.

How’s your journey at the moment? Are you going strong or are you running on empty?

What do you need to do to refuel? What kind of activities fill you up and give you energy for life? Make sure you take time for those things.

Refuel … think about it.

  1. Thanks Mark. I think that we need to balance things out and not try to eat more than we can handle. Ever tried to eat a whole smorgasboard in ONE sitting? MMMmmmm? We need to pace ourselves. Rest is just as important as activity. Even Jesus rested and took time out from even people, to pray alone, so that He could recharge Himself! I’ve learned to enter into God’s rest and spend time with Him in prayer, while enjoying His beautiful creation to recharge in the Word and pace myself. We need to know when to stop. Say a nice no to some things/activities. Figure out what’s most important and do those things first. Take care of those things which God has called us and enabled us to do and delegate the rest to others to share the load. We are the Body of Christ and each one works together using our specific giftings so that things work in correct order. Each one of us has a part to play, so that the body as a whole does not burn out. We need to look after the ‘body’ in order to keep each part working healthy. If we spread ourselves too thin we will become ineffective and make mistakes. Remember, God is in control and He is more than able to take care of what we can’t 🙂 Have an awesome weekend.

Even God took a day off!

  3. Actually Richard, our God is much more than a mother to all of us His children. After all, it is He who created us all. He knitted us in our mother’s womb 🙂 He never slumbers nor sleeps. Enjoy your weekend my friend.
    Psalm 121
1 A song of ascents. I raise my eyes toward the mountains. From where will my help come?
2 My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth.
3 God will not allow your foot to slip; your guardian does not sleep.
4 Truly, the guardian of Israel *never slumbers nor sleeps*.
5 The LORD is your guardian; the LORD is your shade at your righthand.
6 By day the sun cannot harm you, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will guard you from all evil, will always guard your life.
8 The LORD will guard your coming and going both now and forever.
