New yearToday begins a new year – a new season and a new part of our journey. It's not time to press 'Rewind' then 'Repeat.' It's time to move forward – into new things. Uncharted territory. New horizons. New experiences. We haven't been this way before … so we must stay in step with the Spirit. We need God's presence to lead and guide us each step of the way.

Thankfully, God promises to never leave us or forsake us. He is 'Emmanuel' – God with us.

God has a purpose and a plan for our lives. He has already begun a good work in us and he is committed to finishing it. After all, He is the Alpha, the beginning, and Omega, the end.

Here are a few of my favourite promises from Scripture:

Jer.29:11. "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Phil.1:6. I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Our journey is a walk of faith. Faith is complete trust and confidence in God, even when we aren't sure what is going on and what God is up to.

Heb.11:1,6. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see .. It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

What is God calling you to let go of? What is he asking you to reach out towards? What step of faith does he want you to make this year?

Mark Twain once said, "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover!"

Like Abraham, who followed God's call to leave his own country, we are to be people of faith. Let's step out of our comfort zones and engage fully in the adventure of faith that God has for us. It's called LIFE.

May this year be your most exciting and fruitful ever!

God bless.

  1. Mark – good quote by Mark Twain. Taking risks, and accepting change are necessary to grow in life.
Its kind of a nice time to sit down reflect on the Year gone – our achievements, those whom we may have lost, the events, mistakes, sins and life’s lessons. … And then to reconnect, resolve and set some BHAG’s for the New Year.
    Have a great New Year.
